Wastewater Treatment

Overview

Advanced Treatment. Measurable Results.

Smarter Conditioning Before Downstream Treatment. Vortex Water Solutions improves wastewater treatability by mechanically conditioning water ahead of filtration, biological treatment, or polishing systems—reducing biological activity, organics, and particle size so downstream processes operate more predictably.

At the core is Controlled Hydrodynamic Cavitation (CHC)—a mechanical process that uses pressure changes and microscopic bubble implosions to disrupt contaminants and improve water quality without driving chemical dependency.

Vortex systems are engineered as integrated treatment trains, combining CHC with configurable components such as chloride conversion, ceramic filtration, GAC polishing, nano bubblers and RO polishing when needed—allowing the solution to be tailored to the wastewater source and the target discharge or reuse objective.

How Vortex Supports Wastewater Treatment

01
Define Constraints and Treatment Objective
We start with the wastewater source characteristics and the operational goal—improved downstream treatability, cleaner discharge, or a pathway to non-potable reuse—then select a treatment train that fits the site's process and compliance realities.
02
The Foundation: Mechanical Conditioning via CHC
Wastewater is routed through CHC, where controlled cavitation creates high shear forces and micro-effects that disrupt biological activity and improve treatability through a physical mechanism rather than escalating chemicals.
03
Convert Problem Solids Into Filterable Forms
Wastewater is routed through CHC, where controlled cavitation creates high shear forces and micro-effects that disrupt biological activity and improve treatability through a physical mechanism rather than escalating chemicals.
04
Filtration and Polishing (Modular)
Depending on the stream, Vortex integrates filtration stages (auto backwashing filtration, ceramic filtration, GAC or specific media based) to remove solids and polish water quality. In pilot/treatability contexts, the demonstrated treatment train can include Chloride Conversion systems, VCHC, proprietary filters, and RO polishing.
05
Optional Reaction and Oxidation Support
Systems can be tailored with additional mechanisms (advanced oxidation such as ozone or chloride reactions) and post-filtration configurations to meet specific water source requirements.
06
Validate Performance (Pilot and Treatability Testing)
For difficult streams (e.g., leachate), Vortex supports treatability testing programs that sample influent and stepwise effluent through cycles and components to generate operational performance data and inform full-scale design.

Key Features

Key Features & Benefits

Better Downstream Performance
(and fewer surprises)
Conditions wastewater before filtration/biological/polishing systems by reducing biological activity, organics, and particle size—improving “treatability” and stability.
Uses a mechanical mechanism (CHC) to drive consistent performance where chemical approaches can require escalation and constant changes over time.
Reduced Fouling
Improved Filtration Effectiveness
Converts mineral scaling precursors into filterable forms (e.g., aragonite), supporting cleaner operation and protecting equipment.
Modular multistep filtration (1–4 stages) can be configured to address particulates from nano to heavy solids, with polishing options like GAC and RO as needed.
Proof-driven pathway
for high-risk waste streams
Treatability pilots (including mobile systems) are structured to collect performance data across cycles/components to support engineering design and cost planning.
Lower chemical dependency
Improved Sustainability posture
Vortex positions wastewater improvement around nonchemical/mechanical treatment, minimizing reliance on additive-heavy programs.
