Controlled Hydrodynamic Cavitation (CHC)

Overview

CHC in Action

Vortex Water Solutions' Controlled Hydrodynamic Cavitation is a Non-Chemical, or Mechanical, water treatment system.

Our technology consists of a process loop where process or effluent water streams undergo our patented Controlled HDC process.

At the point of discharge, the two opposing water streams (whose internal rotation is opposite from one another) collide, creating hydrodynamic cavitation or microjets with high shear force, and vacuum.

This sudden lowering of pressure into a vacuum state forces the release of dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2) from the water. This release of CO2 in turn causes calcium carbonate to immediately drop out of solution into suspension where it is removed by filtration.

HOW IT WORKS

Core Technology of the Vortex Water Solution Platform

Controlled Hydrodynamic Cavitation (CHC) is a mechanical water treatment process that stabilizes water without chemicals.

01
Instead of adding inhibitors or biocides, CHC:
  • Converts dissolved hardness into removable solids
  • Reduces biological growth through physical disruption
  • Advanced Oxidation Properties
  • Helps keep systems clean and efficient
  • Shifts water into a more stable condition

The process allows water to be treated using energy and flow dynamics, rather than chemical dosing.

02
How does it work?
Water passes through a specialized chamber where controlled cavitation occurs.
Inside the chamber, tiny vapor bubbles form and collapse rapidly. This releases localized energy into the water. That energy drives physical and chemical changes. The result:
  • Scale-forming material is converted into soft particles
  • Biological organisms are broken apart
  • Water chemistry shifts toward a more stable condition
03
What does it mean for you?
  • Less buildup on surfaces
  • Reduced biological activity
  • More consistent operating conditions
  • Lower dependency on manual adjustments
CHC changes water from something that requires constant management into something that can be mechanically controlled and maintained.
