Heat Transfer Water Treatment

Overview

Advanced Treatment.
Measurable Results.

Vortex Water Solutions delivers engineered, mechanical, water treatment designed to protect heat transfer performance, reduce water consumption, and extend equipment life—without making your cooling operation chemistry dependent.

For data centers, the goal is simple: maximize uptime and cooling efficiency while minimizing water draw, blowdown, and risk. Vortex systems address the core drivers that degrade thermal performance—biological growth (including Legionella), scale formation, corrosion, unstable pH, and solids loading—so your cooling towers and heat exchangers stay clean, stable, and predictable under variable loads and seasonal conditions.

Process

How Vortex Supports Heat Transfer and Data Centers

01
Model The Cooling Loop Against Real Constraints
We start by modeling requirements around source water, system load, and effluent/discharge limitations, because those three variables drive achievable cycles, reuse strategy, and performance outcomes.
02
Mechanical Treatment Plus Hydrodynamic Cavitation Foundation
Vortex's core approach is a physical/mechanical treatment pathway built around Controlled Hydrodynamic Cavitation (CHC) plus Chloride Conversion (FC) to reduce biological growth and disrupt scale mechanisms, supporting consistent performance where microbes and minerals typically force escalating chemical programs.
03
Filtration Plus Polishing For Reuse-Grade Water Quality
Vortex integrates multi-step filtration (including tight back washable ceramic media and Granular Activated Carbon (GAC)) to remove contaminants and polish water for continued reuse in heat transfer applications. Custom filtration manifolds are available when design parameters dictate.
04
Stabilize Chemistry Drivers That Impact Heat Transfer
Key built-in controls include pH stabilization via CO2 degassing (consistent pH without chemical additives), conductivity and dissolved solids (TDS) management, and bacteria control supported by a registered EPA biocide system and chloride conversion where applicable.
05
Recover and Reuse Blowdown/Bleed Streams
The Effluent Recovery & Reuse System (E.R.R.S.) is designed to capture and treat bleed, blowdown, and RO reject water that would typically be discharged, then process it for reuse back into the system. This is especially relevant for data centers aiming to cut water demand while meeting or improving discharge limits and operational guardrails.

Key Features

Key Features & Benefits

Uptime + reliability (mission‑critical)
  • Controls the big three cooling‑tower threats: scale, corrosion, sediment/biofilm—key operational factors tied to Legionella risk and overall tower stability.
  • Improves system reliability and reduces maintenance burden by keeping water quality consistent and reducing fouling drivers.
Water reduction + reuse (WUE improvement drivers)
  • Reduce makeup water demand by >50%
  • Reclaim most effluent streams for non‑potable reuse (or managed discharge), reducing both purchase and discharge costs.
  • Enables a practical path to higher Cycles of Concentration by addressing the limiting factors (solids, biology, pH stability, dissolved solids).
Energy + heat transfer performance
Cleaner heat‑exchange surfaces and controlled scaling mechanisms support better heat transfer efficiency—helping chillers and cooling infrastructure operate closer to design intent.
Compliance + risk posture
  • Helps execute a documented cooling‑tower water management discipline aligned to recognized public‑health guidance emphasizing control of scale/corrosion/sediment and consistent monitoring.
  • Where applicable, ERRS is positioned with regulatory advantages.
