Carbon Footprint Reduction

The government is looking towards industries with larger carbon footprints to make drastic changes in our environment. Cooling systems have a large carbon footprint caused by the chemicals used for water treatment. The first step is knowing your current carbon footprint, and then taking steps towards reducing it. An excellent objective is usually reducing your carbon footprint 10 percent every year.

Converting to chemical-free water treatment can have affects on the entire supply chain’s footprint. Chemicals are hydrocarbon (oil) based, so reducing the volume reduces the need to drill for/transport/refine oil.  From the refinery, they have to transport the oil to the chemical plant and from the chemical plant on to the end-user. Also, because plastics are carbon based, containers for the chemicals cause a carbon footprint.

If one of your primary concerns for your business is “going green”, talk to your water treatment provider about your options. Reducing your carbon footprint will decrease both your costs and impact on the environment.
